Protests in Ferguson, MO
On Friday, Agusut 15, protesters gathered in Ferguson, MO demanding justice for the killing of an unarmed 18 year-old boy by a Ferguson police officer. They made cardboard signs with catch phrases that they chanted: "No justice, no peace!" and "Hands up! Don't shoot!" There were percussionists, children, major media outlets, photographers, and an appearance by civil right advocate, Jesse Jackson. Some people lined the roads with their hands up, some marched through the streets, and others drove by with their signs hanging out of car windows.
Overall I witnessed what I may call a kind of peaceful aggression. The people were firm in their demands and unwavering in their call for justice. The energy in Ferguson Friday night was stirring something powerful in its residents; we must now wait to see how our political leaders answer their call.
